"Paperman" and "Signs"

Have you ever watch Paperman or Sign? Figure out the differences between both films was also my homework 😂
Paperman: An animated short that follows the story of a lonely young man in mid-century New York City, whose destiny takes an unexpected turn after a chance meeting with a beautiful woman on his morning commute. Convinced the girl of his dreams is gone forever, he gets a second chance when he spots her in a skyscraper window across the avenue from his office. With only his heart, imagination and a stack of papers to get her attention, his efforts are no match for what the fates have in store for him.

'SIGNS' romantic short film. This 12 minutes speechless film is about a lonely boy who start communicating with a cute girl in next building using written signs and eventually they met each other. Love doesn't always talk, sometimes might be expressed even from a piece of paper. In a world of social networking and cellphone, signs are still powerful as long as they mean a lot.

In my opinion, the men in both films fell in love at first sight and in the end, both couples connected with each other. However, there are some differences.

Firstly, we can see easily that Paperman is a cartoon but Signs is a live action.
Secondly, the man in Signs was shyer and he remained passive. Therefore he hesitated and passed up several opportunities to confess his feeling for the woman. While the man in Paperman made every effort to contact the woman again.
Thirdly, the man in Paperman quit when he thought he would never see the woman again. The man in Signs isn't the same. He didn't quit. He kept looking through the window to find her.
Fourthly, like a fairy-tale, Paperman contains a magical element, the paper planes, they brought the couple together. While Signs didn't seem to have any magic element.
Besides, we can see the changes of the man's emotion more clearly in Signs. He became more positive day by day. It seems like the more he saw her, the happier he felt.
Finally, I thought about the message of both films. I guess Paperman's message is "never give up" and Signs' is "don't hesitate”.

I think there was something interesting about the titles of both films. We might pass many things in our life, something wonderful, something simple, even chances. "Paper" and “Signs" sound boring and not special at all. However, Paper and signs were so incredible in Paperman and Signs. And they really made me believe that something simple can make ours lives magical.
